A WORD ON THE MARTIAL ARTS
The apparent spurring of interest in the Martial Arts since the
visible career of Bruce Lee has been an empty gesture doing much
harm to the tradition ranging back thousands of years in Chinese
history.
Kung Fu in movies and television is especially vulnerable to vulgarization,
since there are many aspects to this art that can be easily sensationalized.
Most obvious are the aspects of self-defense and personal power.
Those of us who have dedicated our lives to the study and practice
of the Martial Arts have realized that the road to mastery is
not an easy one. We have also realized that mastery in the Martial
Arts has nothing to do with fighting, but everything to do with
personal character.
"A long perilous road tests the horse;
a long perilous journey tests the man."
